CBS Sets Premiere Dates for ‘Under the Dome,’ New Drama ‘Extant’

Ooooh, I can’t wait!


CBS has set premiere dates for its summer event series “Under the Dome” and “Extant,” with the latter newbie slated for Wednesday.

There had been some thought that CBS would stack the two dramas, both produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television. But instead, the net is looking to spread around its summer scripted skeins.

“Under the Dome” will return for its sophomore season on June 30, remaining in the Monday 10 p.m. timeslot in which it aired last summer. It was last summer’s No. 1 broadcast series in adults 18-49 (3.9/11) and total viewers (15.06 million) — ranking as the most-watched scripted summer series in 21 years.

The first episode of season two will be written by Stephen King, whose bestselling novel the series is based on. 

“Extant,” starring Academy Award winner Halle Berry, premieres July 2 at 9 o’clock. It’s possible that CBS will use  “Big Brother” as its lead-in…
