Happy Easter! The resurrected Jesus is what the people need

Jesus is Risen!

Happy Easter!

One of the things that strikes me about Easter is that without the resurrection of Christ, there isn’t eternal salvation. Simply put: everything that Jesus did on His time on earth means absolutely nothing if He doesn’t raise from the dead.

All throughout the world, the people are looking for their Savior. They are looking for the answer to God. When Jesus walked the earth, the people were happy. But deep down inside, they needed something more than just Jesus. They needed the resurrected Jesus.

I have another clip from The Last Temptation of Christ that better explains this than I can.

Background info on the clip. This is after Jesus had saved himself and He’s walking around with his family. He runs into Paul and is offended that Paul is preaching about Him. But Jesus finds out that Paul was not preaching about Him. Paul preaches about a resurrected Jesus — the fulfillment of hope from God.

That’s what Easter is about. The resurrected Jesus is the only one that matters. Throughout this world there have been prophets and other people who claim to be the answer to life’s tough questions. But deep down inside, the people were looking for the true Messiah. They wanted to grow closer to God.

And in order for them to reach their salvation in God, they needed Jesus. But in order for it to become a reality, Jesus needed to be resurrected.

But it doesn’t end there. With what we know about salvation and the greatness of God, Jesus had these simple instructions for us.

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
– Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

None of this would have been fulfilled had Jesus not resurrected and conquered death. That’s why we celebrate on Easter. Because now we have eternal life. And that’s worth celebrating not only today, but every day.

Simply put: Without the resurrection, there is no Christianity and everything done before and after Jesus would be useless.

And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.

But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
1 Corinthians 15:14-22 (NIV)

He is risen! It’s all real and it’s all wonderful! Thank God for Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection!!!
