I’m going on a mission trip to Mexico and I would like your support

Hi!!! I may have talked to you recently or maybe I haven’t talked to you in a minute. I hope you’re all well!

From July 22-28, I will be going on a mission trip to Mexico with my church (Trinity Church of the Nazarene). On this mission trip I will join my church’s youth (teenagers) group to provide a week of Vacation Bible School (a Christian summer program) to the kids at an orphanage in Ensenada. Along with Azusa Pacific University and our sister church Iglesia Luz y Poder Ministerios Cristo Vive, we will facilitate arts & crafts, activities and games with the kids. Ultimately, our goal is to share the Gospel of Jesus through many different activities, songs of worship and through authentic relationships.

This is my first time on a mission trip and first time going to Mexico. And as a leader for our youth group on the trip, I know God wants me to not only lead the kids but also lead our youth in faith as well. I feel God wants to use my passion and talents here for the kids. I am excited to go and grow!

How can you support us? First and foremost, please pray for me, my team and the kids at the orphanage. Prayer is the most powerful thing we have and I believe that with prayer, we can be filled with the spirit of God to reach these kids with the Gospel.

Additionally, we are looking for financial support. The financial goal I need to raise for the trip is $100 and it is likely that I will easily reach that. However, any amount I receive over the $100 goal will go towards the mission budget. That extra money goes towards more supplies, more food, more resources and potentially many more things the Lord can bless us with.

Would you like to support us?

Thank you and God bless you! God is good!

Sam

‘Pretty Little Liars’ is finally done and I am relieved

It’s done!!

What started out for me as a show of curiosity of a mystery ended up as a show that dragged me to the finish line. So many times there were so many plot twists and turns I couldn’t keep up. I sometimes struggled to figure out what was going on and some episodes were just not satisfying at all. My confusion of many things didn’t help.

There were twins (two now!) and so many weird connections and how some people were the villains but ended up not made it a difficult follow many times.

I love President Donald Trump despite many disagreements — it’s the right Christian thing to do

About a month ago I was reading my daily devotion and it was about LOVE. That word in Christianity is a simple word but it holds so many different levels and understanding. The devotion talked about how even though sometimes a person may have wronged you, that forgiveness is the right response and that you have to love your enemies.

This isn’t something new to me. I grew up with these principles. I believe in them. Jesus Christ preached it. He loved and forgave those who ended capturing Him and crucifying Him. He showed the way to love.

But that made me think about something. Who actually are my enemies? My arrogant self made me think that there is no possible way for anyone not to like me. That means I must not have any enemies, right?

No. I had to dig deeper. I started to think about who I would consider my enemies. Not people hating me, but people I was hating.

I felt bad for Tupac’s legacy after watching ‘All Eyez on Me’

Let me first tell you that I am a huge Tupac fan. I am a fan that owns all his albums. I am a fan who researched and downloaded all his original recordings (which would later be put into his posthumous releases). I also have two posters of him in my childhood room. I have seen all his movies. I am a huge fan.

With that said, I came into “All Eyez on Me” with the knowledge of the critics’ less than enthusiastic reviews of the film. Jada Pinkett-Smith and 50 Cent have expressed their dislike of the movie as well. I was hopeful that maybe my perception wouldn’t be swayed. But it was. And when I watched the film, I was disappointed.

Overall the movie was decent for the casual fan who may not know his story. But still, the struggle to fit in 25 years of his life into a film is hard. Rather than focus on a part of his life, we got a directionless film that went all over the place. We struggled to identify with the character and that unfortunately led to the anti-climactic end which really didn’t give much to the enigmatic rap star.
